Not quite white

This is somewhat more formal than you might expect – and from a long time ago. It’s a scissor’s holder, and I don’t use it.

Each side is different. It’s whitework – on off-white linen. A City and Guilds sample saved from the ‘bin’ by making something ‘useful’!

It’s beautiful stitching. WE did do lots of traditional things long ago, didn’t we?

In those days you weren’t allowed to do anything adventurous until you had mastered the basic technique. There is very little teaching on technique today – it seems to all be ‘quick fix’. Such a shame. 😦

It’s beautiful and I find it a little sad that its rarely seen these days.

Sadly, Gilly, so many of the techniques aren’t taught any more. It’s quite difficult to learn them ‘from a book’.
